It looks like they have changed their FBA to add further support for those not making their living solely off of FileMaker development. It still does not look like a membership in the FileMaker Technical Network allows you to submit a solution to be listed on their website. It has some benefits that might actually get me to finally join. I’d just like to get a few more details. FileMaker Technical Network

advertisementAs previously noted, FileMaker 9 will feature support for external SQL (ODBC) data sources. FileMaker 9 will be able to read and write to SQL data sources while FileMaker 9 developers will be able to specify which fields of the SQL database are accessible, if desired, without actually altering the SQL database itself. Sources report FileMaker 9 will officially support SQL Server 2000 and 2005, Oracle 9g and 10g, and MySQL 5.0 Community Edition.

January 25, 2007 – Details of new features in FileMaker 9 have emerged ahead of its release, as engineers continue to polish the product’s functionality and keep the database software competitive.

Among the changes planned for FileMaker 9 are object scaling based on window size, scripting triggers when entering and leaving fields, and significant ODBC changes. In addition, support for reading and writing to SQL databases will be added in FileMaker 9.
